Carving out time in the day just for "me" is essential and comes in various forms. Whether it's getting back into my workout regime, foam rolling (which I've started doing every morning and absolutely loving) to watching mindless TV (Real Housewives of Beverly Hills) and discovering my new obsession with essential oils and what they can do for the mind and skin, baths have become that, too.

Here's one of my favorite therapeutic bath balms that has given me the best skin of my life while also totally chilling me out.

What You'll Need:

1/2 cup coconut oil (or use however much floats your (bath) boat)

1-2 tbsp sea salts of your choice

7 drops lavender essential oil

5 drops eucalyptus essential oil

Always strive to use plant or seed oil in the bath, otherwise your skin may dry out. This is particularly true when using a bath salt. Coconut oil is a great choice due to its ability to melt quickly in the tub while still providing substantial skin-coating moisture.

Lavender and eucalyptus are an awesome functional combination for treating a stressed-out body and mind and for helping you to relax while fighting off infections. (This is also a great combination if you have a headache, as lavender has been credited as an effective alternative treatment for migraines)

In case you're bored by or don't prefer lavender, not to worry! There are three other essential oils that are great for the bath. A sort of surprising one is clary sage, which has mood-boosting, hormone-balancing effects, plus it can help ease menstrual cramping. I find that baths are great when you're experiencing PMS symptoms. The other is rose otto, which has anti-depressant qualities and smells just amazing. Bonus: research has also found that it can enhance your skin's permeability, which is great if you're using salts to help heal skin conditions or increase circulation.
